Electromagnetic Yoke FAQs
How long is the battery life, and does the current selection affect it?
Battery Life: Under standard operating conditions, the battery lasts approximately 6 hours on a duty cycle of 2 seconds of magnetization followed by a 60-second rest period, or approximately 2.5 hours on a more frequent duty cycle of 5 seconds of magnetization followed by a 30-second rest period. This rest period is essential to prevent overheating and potential device failure.Current Selection: Choosing between AC and DC modes does not affect the overall battery life.
Does diminishing battery level affect performance? (e.g., Will the lifting force decrease?)
No. The AD-3 is designed to maintain consistent magnetic performance until the battery is nearly exhausted. While it is a natural characteristic of lithium batteries to see a gradual decrease in total capacity over several years of use, you will not experience "magnetic fade" during a single shift's operation.
The manual mentions a 5-second maximum "on" time. Does the yoke shut off automatically?
The AD-3 does not feature an automatic shut-off. The 5-second limit is a recommended operational guideline to ensure the longevity of the device. For optimal performance and safety, we advise following the 5-second ON / 30-second OFF cycle.
When using AC, does the unit achieve a 30 Gauss field strength on the part surface?
Field strength on the surface of a part is highly dependent on the magnetic permeability of the specific material being tested. Therefore, we cannot guarantee a fixed Gauss rating across all materials, as the flux density will vary based on the workpiece properties.
How does this unit perform in harsh weather, such as dusty or rainy environments?
The AD-3 is built for durability with an IP54 rating, making it both dust-tight and water-resistant. This provides excellent protection against the elements, ensuring reliable performance in typical outdoor or industrial environments involving rain or dust.
